It was great to see Adam (who I haven't seen in 12 years) and to meet Lee. Ironically enough Adam and Lee took me out to dinner with Jo and Jackie from jb-pr - who were visiting LA as Publicists for Banksy. Over dinner at Musso & Franks, in Hollywood, Jo recalled the opening night of the Brain Club. She still had her temporary membership card - so she said. Michael Holden had recently scanned his membership card and emailed it to me... Luke Leitch, the Times Arts columnist, was also out to dinner with me and the Banksy folks. Luke recalls going to the club with his father and his father's friend - Duncan X from SHEEP ON DRUGS. The world just gets smaller and smaller... Luke must've been all of sixteen years old when he first visited The Brain... I met Wigan in 1986 at Sullivan's winebar when he was doing a saturday night called 'The Boiler' with a guy from Hull called Deece. It was great to chat with Wigan after almost a decade and a half... It seems strange how far i travelled only to go back to the beginning, where it all started... I also want to give a big shout out to Kerry Baldry who has already supplied numerous addresses and phone numbers so we can hook-up with the oldest and most faithful Brain-Club-Allstars...<br /><br />Wigan reminded me of the long since disappeared big fella who called himself 'GOD.' What a character? He would constantly repeat 'we are all free living beings, constant and forever alive...' The original Brain Club flyer read; 'music for immortals.' Well there you go - indeed the hand of providence is in everything... Michael told me about him and his mate approaching Sean in 1990 and asking to do a night at The Brain... Sean gave Michael a Monday. One of the acts that Michael 'put on' for his opening night was a relatively unknown singer that Rob (Michael's brother) had just signed... That singer was David Gray.... Michael said he kept a photo of that night...
